San Francisco 49ers | Trey Lance needs season-end surgery on a broken ankle against the Seattle Seahawks

The Santa Clara California Trey Lance season is less than five full quarters in the San Francisco 49ers' first year as a 

starting quarterback. entered the first quarter of Sunday's 27-7 win against the Seattle Seahawks. Backup Jimmy Garoppolo replaced

Lance and ended the game. Lance's injury occurred on a second-down run on a zone-read play, handing receiver Ray-Ray McCloud,

McCloud, Lance picked the latter. After gaining 2 yards, the Seahawks collided with linebacker Cody Barton.

Lance had three carries for 13 yards before injury passing 2-of-3 for 30 yards. After leading the Niners in (13) yards (54) in

a week 1 losing effort to the Bears, Lance spoke Wednesday about the need to protect himself when running between college NFL

Lance started only two games in 2021 and sprained his left knee after initially losing to the Arizona Cardinals.

Completed 8 of 11 passes for 106 yards and made a touchdown in the half after replacing Lance. Finished 13-in-21 for 154 

yards and touchdowns, adding TD runs to cap San Francisco's scoring. Garoppolo has a chance to earn a big

share back with the Niners on August 29. His base salary was reduced from $24 million to $6.5 million

Trey Lance  with incentives created for the team's success while playing that could earn him up to $16 million.

Garopolo earned $350,000 on Sunday, $250,000 for playing at least 25% of the snaps, and $100,000 for winnings.
