PS1 on Rampage Mode, surpasses Brahmastra and Vikram, becomes 3rd highest grossing Indian film of the year
Ponniyin Selvan 1, Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, released on September 30 this year, continued to set records,
featuring Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Sobhita Dhulipala and Trisha Krishnan,
was lauded by critics and fans alike. . Now Brahmastra Part One: The third highest grossing Indian film of the year,
surpassing Shiva and Vikram. The film grossed over 450 crores worldwide which is more than the records of both
Brahmastra and Vikram. As of 17 September the film had grossed 455 crores worldwide, including a remarkable 161 crores
($20 million) from overseas. Directed by Ayan Mukerji, Brahmastra earned around 431 crores worldwide,
while Kamal Haasan starrer Vikram earned around 443 crores. The film achieved huge success, currently surpassing
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer 2.0 to become the second highest-grossing Tamil film, earning over 700 crores.
It is told that Ponniyin Selvan-I is the story of the early years of a strong southern emperor Arulmozhivarman
(played by Jayama Ravi), who later became the famous Chola emperor, Rajaraja Chola I. Based on the 1955 historical
novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy. In the film, Vikram portrayed Aditya Karikalan as the title character. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam's
actress played the role of Rani Nandini. Karthi played the role of Vallavarayan Vanthiyathevan well and it won praise.
