Ponniyin Selvan Box Office Collection: Closes to Rs 500 cr worldwide Reportedly the latest worldwide box office

smash is the Tamil historical epic Ponniyin Selvan 1, directed by Mani Ratnam. The film is approaching Rs 500 crore.

According to trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan, the film collected Rs 456.25 crore worldwide yesterday.

The film broke stone at the box office by becoming the first Kollywood film to gross over Rs 200 crore in Tamil Nadu.

Trade analyst Manobala Vijaybalan shared the box-office update on Twitter on October 16, tweeting, "#PonniyinSelvanZOOMS

crosses ₹200 cr milestone on Day 17 in TN BO. First film in history to achieve the feat. of Kollywood."

The AR Rahman music is said to have been adapted from Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name,

which was based on the war of succession among the Cholas, one of the world's strongest dynasties. Many actors like

M G Ramachandran, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth tried to turn the novel into a film over the past six decades. Eventually, 

Mani Ratnam succeeded in the effort. The multi-starrer is lauded for its excellent story, visual spectacle,

amazing performances, captivating storyline, massive star cast, exceptional music, brilliant cinematography, running in
