New York Giants News Today NY Giants 19, Carolina 16: Big Blue Late Stand makes 2-0 starts for the first time since 2016

East Rutherford Giants started the season with two wins for the first time since 2016. The Giants' defense

was outstanding even after Graham Gano scored four field goals, losing to legendary Leonard Williams,

Brian Daboll & Co. survived a fine 19-16 win over the Carolina Panthers at MetLife Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Gano hit a second field goal from over 50 yards with 3:34 to put the 56-yard Giants three ahead. Carolina threatened on

the next possession, turning his pace in favor of the Giants while walking his way to midfield before a third-down sack by Julian

Love. Defensive coordinator Vink Martindale eased the pressure. Love blasted rookie left tackle ike Ekwonu well inside,

decking Mayfield in the backfield without leaving. The Panthers (1-1) went from facing third-5 to fourth-15, opting to punt.

The Giants (2–0) faced a third 5, with just over 1:30 left; Daniel Jones made a sound decision with the option to run on a bootleg

pass. With the middle of the field clear, Jones tucked the football in, rolling the sticks for 11 yards, a game-sealing game.
