Luke Evans says 'Beauty and the Beast' is going to be a prequel Luke Evans assured fans on Thursday that the Gaston LeFau

Beauty and the Beast" prequel is still taking place, only to delay it. It was stopped. We want to make sure it's

absolutely the best that we're going to do if it means we'll have to wait a little longer for some of the pieces

to get even better, because there's a very important legacy the Pinocchio actor has given to Entertainment Told the Weekly.

We want to honor these characters with the best story we could possibly deliver. Still stuck, said 43-year-old Evans,

it's going to happen. Very excited about it. The prequel will tell how LeFou and Gaston became friends.

Josh Gad, 41, and Evans will both reprise roles as LeFou Gaston. Both actors did well in the 2017 live-action film

starring Emma Watson. Evans said navigating the story of two new characters and then bringing them to the point

where you meet them in the film was a thrilling experience. Gad explained that the major reason for the frequent delays

was the financial cost of the show. You're doing something as ambitious as the Beauty and the Beast prequel,

getting you to play with Crown Jewels, it's going to be an expensive undertaking, Gad said in an interview with Collider.

There are ways we can tell this story and live up to what it promises, but do it in a way that doesn't break the bank.
