Approved COVID-19 Booster for Ages 5-11 Available in Springfield 20 October Springfield, Mo. - This updated COVID-19
booster from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna for ages 5 and older will be available in Springfield, Missouri on October 20, 2022,
according to the Springfield-Green County Health Department. On October 18, the Missouri Department of Health
Senior Services approved the updated COVID-19 booster shots for children over age 5 for distribution. The new booster has already
received a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advisory board, an emergency authority
from the US Food and Drug Administration. Green County's syphilis rate has increased 13-fold in the past 5 years
Children 5 years of age and 5 years of age and older are eligible to receive a new Pfizer/BioNTech booster for at least
two months after the last dose. Children 6 years of age can receive their Modern Updated Booster two months after the last dose.
Children are less likely to get COVID-19, yet the Food Drug Administration recommends that they be vaccinated.
The Springfield-Green County Health Department is offering a $50 gift card to those receiving the first booster,
